Yesterday, at night, I listened to a very beautiful sad song, it’s called “Jueves” (Thursday) and it’s about the Madrid train bombings on the morning of 11 March 2004. It killed 191 people, left a thousand people injured, and also a lot of families in sorrow.
I found this song really special because of the story it tells. It’s about a girl who is secretly in love with a guy whom everyday she takes the train. They developed a relationship, a necessity of each other although they never talked to each one. But, one day, 11 March, the girl had the courage to talk to him, and by doing that she discovered that he was also in love with her. But, just after that everything got dark (because of the sudden train bombings) and in the last part of the song, the girl said that she was able to find him in the darkness. She was just about to end her life so she kissed him to say goodbye, and that’s when the song ends.
I was so touched with that story that I just couldn’t sleep yesterday. What if this story really happened and was interrupted because of that attack? It makes me feel so sad and angry…
The only thing that makes me feel better is that, at least in the song they ended up knowing what the other one really felt… It makes me feel kind of relieved…
This is the song: La Oreja de Van Gogh - Jueves
