On Friday I went to the 6th National Symphony Orchestra concert. It was great, and I loved all the compositions they played. The program was as follows:
Guest director: Lukas Pfaff (Switzerland)
Soloist: Guillaume Vincent, piano.
Jacques Offenbach: La belle Hélène – Overture
Sergei Rachmaninoff: Piano concert n. º 2 in C minor, Op. 18
Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Symphony n.º 5 in E minor, Op. 64
It was, as I’ve just said, a great concert. The first composition transported me to fantasy world. I don’t know why but I was just thinking about fairy tales when I was listening to it. It also made feel really sensible because the sound was so delicate and sweet, and I nearly cried. It was a really well interpreted composition.
About the second one, I fell in love with Rachmaninoff’s piano concert. I felt connected with the music, and that has a lot to do with the interpretation; Guillaume Vincent is a terrific pianist and I would really like to go to one of his concerts once again. His piano skills really surprised me. I’ve become one of his fans.
Finally, they played Tchaikovsky’s Symphony n. º 5 in E minor. I’m a Tchaikovsky lover, so I was happy to hear that composition live. The sound was amazing, and when it was over I wanted it to continue.
The last concert of this season is next Friday. They are going to play Sibelius again (I’m so happy about it) and Maurice Ravel. I know it would be a good concert, too.
I would really like you to listen to this one, my favorite of the concert:

Jacques Offenbach: La belle Hélène – Overture (It reminded me to Sleeping Beuty's soundtrack)
